The Easiest Way to Use One SpeedLight (FLASH) for a Basic White Background Portrait.
Today we will be discussing a video by Jiggy Alejandrino, a portrait and wedding photographer from the Philippines, who will show us how he uses single light and foam boards to create stunning images.
Jiggy Alejandrino's studio is relatively small. However, he manages to create beautiful images by using a foam board as a reflector.
Now, let's talk about the specific technique that Jiggy uses with his foam boards. He places one board on each side of his subject, and he mounts them on the light stands. He then sets his flash and uses the foam boards as reflectors to create soft, even lighting on his subject's face.
Jiggy also uses a smaller foam board, measuring two by four feet, for a particular purpose. He holds it above his subject's head, just out of frame, to create a subtle rim light that separates his subject from the background. This technique adds depth and dimension to his images, making them more visually appealing.
