Is a Shallow Depth of Field Actually Cinematic?
15 years ago the shallow depth of field look was something you'd only really see in the cinema or in photography. How often do movies really use a "blurry background"?.
Simon Cade has analyzed two films (Blader Runner and Dead Poets Society) and has divided the films into three sections depending on the shallow depth of field used.
The conclusions are very interesting, about 19% of the film is shot with a great depth of field. Which has its logic, since it is usually used, as we will see in the video, as another tool that helps the director to transmit a specific message to the viewer.
