Fine Art Ballerina Ballet Portrait Photoshoot with Geese
Watch how photographer Nicole Carson Bonilla styled the Ballerina’s petticoat and outfit, photographed some very ornery geese on a farm, photographed my elegant ballerina in her studio, and how she edited them together to create this award-winning portrait!
Nicoles has always been fascinated by the graphic shapes and lines of cage skirts worn by women in the mid-1800s. So she wanted to come up with some new fun ways to wear and use them in creative portraits. she played around with some ideas using the petticoat as an actual cage for animals. This led to her concept of a portrait of a ballerina corralling her geese friends under her petticoat.
Her lighting set-up for this photoshoot included three Canon EX600 speedlites, a Magmod MagBounce, and a Magmod MagShere. Her key light was inside of a Westcott Apollo softbox that she added two additional layers of white fabric diffusion to.
Nicole used the Canon EOS R5 camera and RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens.
