Film Photography: Unboxing a 1998 Kodak Portra VHS promotional box!
Film photographers know very well the Kodak Portra line of films. What fewer know is that the line began in 1998 with the arrival of Kodak Portra 160 NC, Kodak Portra 160 VC, Kodak Portra 400 NC, and Kodak Portra 400 VC.
To promote the new line of "unified" film stocks, Kodak sent these boxes to photographers and probably camera shops to lure them into the new lineup of film. Included in this gem of a find (thanks, Andre from Cinestill!!) is a VHS packed with testimonials about Kodak Portra emulsion. In addition, a sheet included in the box touts various features and updates to the film from previous emulsions. Also included were 4 rolls of medium format Portra films. Jamie Maldonado clipped the tape into highlights and you can see it all!

DESPITE THIS BEING AN OLD PROMOTIONAL ITEM, THIS IS NOT A PROMOTION FOR KODAK PORTRA. This was just some old thing he got. That happens to be an old promotional item.
