How to Use ON-CAMERA Flash to Create Stunning PORTRAITS!
Most photography instructors would tell you that the worst possible light you can get is that from your On-Camera Flash. Aside from it being small, the general direction of the light creates unflattering portraits. Yes, to some extent, photographer Jiggie Alejandrino does agree especially regarding the size and limitations of those built-in flash units.
But, if you attach a Speedlight On-Camera, this changes the ballgame. Now you may ask why one would do that when you have the option to go off-camera. Well for one, off-camera is an additional cost for others, i.e. the trigger and light stand and sometimes having your flash on a light stand off-camera is prohibitive in busy public places and or events.
Don’t get me wrong, as you can see in most of my videos in this channel, I am a lover of off-camera flash. But that shouldn’t stop me from learning and understanding the potential of my flash when it is placed on camera. - said Jiggie Alejandrino.
Again, with lighting, it’s all about understanding what the light does, having a purpose for it and knowing how to manipulate it in order for you to achieve the vision that’s in your head.
