Award-winning photographer Danny Wilcox Frazier is known for his documentary and news work. In this video profile, you’ll get to know him and the marginalized people and places he photographs.
The project looks at the impact of depopulation on rural communities across the Midwest and Great Plains. Rural counties in the United States have lost more than 12 million people since 2000.
Over the past 15 years I have worked to bring today's rural experience into the national conversation. The desire has always been to bridge the rural and urban divide and help those far removed from small town life better understand and appreciate the complexity and beauty that is life there.
My work acknowledges isolation and neglect, but more importantly it celebrates perseverance and strength. Filmmaker Greg Roden and Adobe wanted to create a short film that explores my photographic process and the web of issues those in rural American face - said Danny Wilcox Frazier-
