Yosemite captures with the worlds largest wet plate collodion camera by Ian Ruhter
My name is Ian Ruhter. Two years ago I created a project called Silver & Light. In this film I attempted to capture images in Yosemite Valley with the worlds largest wet plate collodion camera but suffered a devastating failure.
I wanted to a shot o half dome with snow on it for some time now. Will holding our newest creation. I love this one! @will_eichelberger holding one of the largest plates |

My greatest failure in life came when I lost the ability to believe in my own dreams. It had taken a year and a half to return to Yosemite after enduring one of my most heartbreaking experiences. In an unexpected twist of fate I regained the courage to try again after seeing the world through a child’s eyes.
After a bit of problem solving we're happy with the 3rd one in the back. All images © Ian Ruhter via Facebook |
Since the release of the Silver & Light film we have accomplished more than we ever thought possible. We could have never made it this far without the support of people like you.
I hope you enjoy it.
