This interview, conducted by Steve James of the Eikon Gallery (Monterey CA), is shown here for the first time since its initial airing in 1971.
Viewed now as a photographic icon of 20th century, it was striking to Adams describe his early history and discuss his efforts to establish photography as an art form.

Some people are great speakers and some aren't. Most of the time the people we associate which great things, be it art, education, science and in this case photography, weren't great speakers. At least we could say, that there was one thing Ansel Adams wasn't good at.
