New Profoto "Pro-B4" in Action: Extreme sport photography with Red Bull Illume Winner Marcel Lämmerhirt

Award-winning photographer Marcel Lämmerhirt was the first photographer to ever lay his hands on the Pro-B4.

Marcel, who loves to shoot fast and extreme sports, was especially impressed by its speed and action-freezing capability.

He decided to use these unique features to take a sequence shot of the world champion in wakeboarding, Dominik Gührs.

The Pro-B4 is capable of firing up to 30 flashes per second and delivers flash durations down to 1/25,000 second. Needless to say, this opens up creative possibilities that yesterday’s photographers could only ever dream of.

“I love to shoot fast and extreme sports,” says Marcel. “It’s so real. You can’t fake it. The athletes have to work extremely hard to achieve their goals, and trying to portray their achievements in a unique and interesting way is an incredibly rewarding experience. The big challenge as a photographer is to get that perfect shot at that perfect moment when the snowboarder is grabbing the board or when the wakeboarder is high up in the air.
